Devon Dead & Buried – by Hugh Meller
Historian and author Hugh Meller has visited over 700 religious buildings, churchyards, and cemeteries across Devon. His most recent book ‘Devon Dead & Buried’ is about notable and notorious people who have been buried and commemorated in Devon’s burial grounds. This is a book about mortals and memorials. Winner of Devon History Book of the Year 2025
Devon Historic Churches Fun Day 2025 Otter Valley Ride & Stride
Saturday 13th September was the annual Devon Historic Churches Day incorporating the Ride & Stride.
Neighbours, friends, family and members of Tipton St John and St Gregory’s Venn Ottery, and St Luke’s Newton Poppleford, and St Mary’s Ottery St Mary generously donated to support Malcolm, Shirley & Haylor on their ride around 12 churches in the Otter Valley Mission Community
West Dartmoor Mission Community – Devon Historic Churches Funday/Ride & Stride
Saturday 13th September was the annual Devon Historic Churches Day incorporating the Ride & Stride.
As you can see the West Dartmoor Mission Community came together to support the Trust with some great fundraising ideas.

Bishop’s Palace Open Summer Garden 10th May & 17th May 2026
The garden of the Bishop’s Palace is one of the best-kept secrets in Exeter. It covers three acres and is one of the most ancient in Devon. Bounded by the old Roman bank and city wall to the east and by the Cathedral to the west, it is a haven of peace in the middle of the city.
